Intersectional vegans

I am all for other causes. Particular children’s rights. I’m anti racism, sexism, ageism, the lot. But I am not an intersectional vegan because that makes veganism human-centric….as usual. Animals need undiluted attention on their plight because all isms and schisms are BECAUSE of humans in the first place. Animal rights needs to be purely about animals.

So, get offended. I don’t care…

It's hot today, right? Imagine....

Non vegans - been struggling with the heat the past few days? Suffered from sunstroke? Been dehydrated? Felt like you were about to faint?
Just for a minute, imagine what it must be like to be crammed onto a concentration camp truck in this scorching heat, packed shoulder to shoulder with your friends and family. Sick, injured, vomiting, disease ridden and dehydrated you are being driven many, many miles to your execution (without so much as a drop of water) where you will spend your final moments in agony, wondering what you have ever done to deserve so much pain and torment.
Imagine that your only crime is that you were not born a human and that your very existence and suffering is mocked, laughed at and trivialised with others valuing your life less than their tastebuds.
Non vegans, welcome to the world of your victims. Welcome to the world of chickens, pigs, cows, lambs, turkeys and ducks.
When you get sunstroke, faint or start to get dehydrated, you will generally have someone come to your help. You will generally be able to find some shade/drink some water/find an air conditioned place/turn on a fan. For the animals, there is no respite. There is no end to their suffering and there is no one to help them. They must suffer right until the very end, right until their lives are taken from them.
If I had to endure that they do, I would look forward to the moment my life is taken from me. I would wish for it every second of every single day, for the pain to just finally stop and for my life to be over.
It is your money that is funding this madness, non vegans. You can directly help put an end to this massacre, the largest massacre in history. All you have to do is leave animal corpses and the things that come out of animals (milk + milk based foods, eggs, honey) off your plate and their skin off your body. How hard is that? Is the 'pain', discomfort and inconvenience that you will endure by giving up cheese, milk, eggs and meat worse than the suffering of that 'spent' dairy cow being driven to the slaughterhouse because she can no longer produce profitable amounts of 'organic', 'free range', 'humane' milk?
Again, imagine if it was you or your mother, father, brother or sister on that extermination truck today, yesterday or on Sunday. No one deserves that. You would not wish what happens to cows, pigs, chickens, lambs, turkeys and ducks on your worst enemy.
Your worst nightmares put together would not add up to be a fraction of what these animals endure.
You don't have to love animals to agree that is wrong to do this to them. I am not an animal lover. You simply have to be against unnecessary violence towards others and against exploiting and abusing those at our mercy. What we put billions of animals through each and every year is a gross injustice, the most horrific act of injustice in history. You can either be a part of it or be vegan, and fight to put an end to it.
Please, have mercy on them.

Vegan Dogs...

FORCING YOUR DOG ONTO A VEGAN DIET IS NOT NATURAL!!!"
"Oh. Okay. So what's that you're feeding your dog?"

"Remnants of penises, anuses, eyeballs, gums and vaginas from a whole bunch of animals my chihuahua Mr Fluffywuggles would never naturally hunt or even dare bark at, scraped off a factory floor and muddled together in a tin"

George Martin

Just to add - the majority of dog food (apart from the 'meat' bit as outlined by George above), is cereal...

And, just as another addition, the oldest dog in the world, who lived to 25 human years, was a vegan dog.

If you are ultra careful in ensuring that the nutrients that your dog eats is what he or she needs, then it doesn't matter what the packaging of those nutrients are - except it DOES matter to the animal that has to die to meet meat demand...

Veganism is a white-privileged thing...

"Veganism is a white-privileged thing."
If only the people who spewed this drivel realised how harmful to POC and poor people this actually is.
Are we supposed to believe that ONLY white and/or privileged people are capable of behaving ethically? Is compassion and decency solely a white trait, and do only the rich understand what it means to be a good person?
Given that the type of people who use this phrase generally associate oppressive behaviour to white people, I'm not quite sure what they're trying to achieve here. If anything, surely a more logical statement for them to make would be, "Since rich white people are oppressors, veganism is very much a non-privileged POC thing".
Seeing as veganism is about abstaining from oppression, calling veganism a "white-privileged thing" is as nonsensical as calling anti racism, anti homophobia, and anti sexism a "white-privileged thing".

Imagine a world where rape is legal....

A wonderfully comprehensive post from Rishi Patel - http://facebook.com/Forourunspokenfriends:

Imagine for a minute that you live in a world where rape is legal; the norm and carried out on a daily basis all around you by the vast majority of men.

Imagine that you are an anti rape campaigner, dedicating your life to ending this atrocious, barbaric act of violence against women.

However, each and every time you speak out against it you are labelled as 'weird' 'extreme' 'closed minded' and belonging to a cult. Imagine that the 'justifications' you get from the masses for them raping women are the following:

'Lions tho...lions rape lionesses, are you gonna tell lions to stop'

'Nature tho, it happens in the jungle all the time'

'Animals rape other animals tho'

'It's been happening for thousands of years tho, what about cavemen tho?'

'Women were put here for us to rape them tho'

'If we don't rape them, they will take over and rape us tho'

'There are far more important issues in the word tho, kids are starving in Africa and you're worried about consent?'

'It's a personal choice tho'

'You're forcing your opinions on me tho'

'I respect your choice not to rape, why can't you respect my choice to do so, stop being so self righteous'

'It's just something we're gonna have to agree to disagree on'
'It feels good tho'

Non vegans - Are you appalled by the above? Outraged?

So am I. But, there is a difference.

Me and my fellow vegan activists are not just sickened when we hear rape being 'justified' by the above but also when we hear the rape, sexual exploitation, enslavement, torture, mutilation, branding, gassing, stabbing, de-horning, castration, bludgeoning and scalding of BILLIONS of our animal friends each year being 'justified' by the above 'arguments' from Carnists desperate to feed their addiction to animal products. Replace the words 'women' and 'rape' above with 'animals' and 'eat' and you have the arguments that we hear from non vegans each and every day.

These are the 'arguments' that me and my fellow vegan activists hear every day from non-vegan Carnists who attempt to justify being complicit in the daily torture, enslavement, rape and murder of over 150 BILLION animals each year in order to continue satisfying their own taste buds.

Why is it that when it comes to harming animals, putting them through a lifetime of hell, misery, pain and suffering all of sudden 'lions tho' 'we've been doing it for years tho' 'nature tho' and 'they were put here for us tho' seem to fly just fine for the masses? Why are you disgusted by the above arguments when they are used to justify the rape of humans but more than happy to put forward these very same arguments when it comes to trying to justify the rape, sexual exploitation and commodification of animals?

Are animals lives worth less than humans?

Do animals deserve less respect than humans?

Are we a superior species?

Do you think that it is not rape if you forcibly impregnate a female animal with a metal rod whilst they are restrained in a 'rape rack' trying to escape in order to forcibly impregnate them and then take their babies away from them and then shoot those babies in the head if they are male and then repeat the process year after year after year (meat and dairy industry practices)?

When you justify harming animals for your own personal pleasure, gluttony, greed and vanity with the above 'arguments' you sound just as pathetic to those seeking justice for animals as those who justify rape with the above 'arguments' sound to you.

Please, watch the short video below and share widely. This video has the potential to really start a huge shift in the way people view the horrific, sadistic manner with which we treat animals and expose the double standards and hypocrisy of non vegans.

Thanks George Martin and Aidan (Hayden) for sharing this video and initially writing about it. The coward that I am I was too scared at first to write this post.

Let's end The Animal Holocaust, the largest and longest running murder campaign in history with nothing else even coming close to it, in our lifetime.

Seven Facing Questions

Here is a post from a fellow vegan whom I am friends with on Facebook:

If someone is absolutely sure of their belief that there is nothing wrong with the purchasing and consumption of meat and animal products, then it would only make sense that they are able to COMFORTABLY answer the following questions (none of which are hypothetical, and all of which are based on the reality of animal agriculture).

So anyone out there who is sure there is nothing morally wrong with it, I would love to please know your answers to the below:

1. How old should calves be before they're separated from their mothers so that we can consume their milk? And for the male ones, how soon after separation should they be sent to slaughter?

2. What is your preferred method of killing male chicks, who are of no use to the egg industry because they can't lay, and no use to the meat industry because they don't grow fast enough for meat? Are you a grinding machine type or more of a suffocate in large sacks kind of person?

3. Which wild animals do you think need culling the most in order to protect your livestock before you purchase it? Do you think foxes or badgers, for example, are the biggest threat at the moment to the products you want to buy, and would you rather they were shot or hunted with dogs?

4. How long, ideally, should a journey be from farm to slaughterhouse for the animals you eat, on the slaughterhouse truck they're crammed on to?

5. How do you prefer the animals are taken off the truck into the slaughterhouse for their execution? For example, do you prefer the use of an electric prod, or should they just be kicked/thrown off?

6. What is your favourite way to impregnate a female animal? Do you prefer they are molested by hand, or that a metallic object is thrust into their vagina in order to impregnate them?

7. Are all of the above really worth it for a sandwich, and do they genuinely comprise something worth arguing for in general?

Animals aren't safe in or out of the EU

I voted remain. And the main reason for that was because I believed that (and still do) animals fare slightly better under the scrutiny of the masses, the general public, of a large European community.
Around 80 percent of UK animal welfare laws originate from the EU. None of which are in any way perfect, or even, really, acceptable – not to vegans or to anyone who really truly loves animals. But it’s better than NOT having any of those EU welfare laws in place.
So, I was horrified when I read what the latest EU dinner menu was on the 28th June:

:: Quail and green bean salad with a crispy dried fruit pastry triangle;
:: Poached veal tenderloin with seasonal baby vegetables;
:: Strawberries.
Quail and veal?
Quail has recently been outed for being Factory Farming’s Most Recent and Smallest Victims. Some countries, including the UK, have Codes of Practice that advise cage heights to be 20cm. But these are not legal requirements and no country has particular laws for the welfare of quail.
20cm. 20 CM!
These birds are ‘beak trimmed’ - Beak trimming is particularly cruel as underneath the outer casing runs a system of blood vessels and nerve endings. These enable birds to use their beaks in much the same way we use our fingers - to pick up food, to touch and sense, feel and explore. In effect trimming beaks is similar to a human having their fingertips amputated.
Please read the link to the article that outlines what these tiny little birds suffer:
And of course veal.
The ‘by product’ of the dairy industry – the industry where mothers and babies are abused in the most horrific of ways for our greed for milk and cheese etc.
In the UK there are, interestingly, stricter rules than in general in the EU for veal production – which actually has meant that the UK barely bothers with veal production at all. So calves are simply killed and thrown out. For veal to be veal, in the eyes of the discerning baby torturers and killers, the meat of the calves must be pale and tender. It is baby meat after all.
Standards of welfare in the EU is worse than in the UK – and can vary considerably. Although animals experience social contact and greater freedom of movement than in the crates that they were once legally kept in, they are still kept on slatted flooring with no comfortable resting area. EU law also allows the calves to be fed on a liquid milk diet and the roughage provided may not be of an appropriate type or sufficient quantity to allow normal development of the digestive system. This feeding regime helps to ensure the production of the ‘desired’ pale flesh, since the law allows haemoglobin levels (iron) in calves blood to fall below those that safeguard against anaemia.
So, basically, babies that are deliberately made ill and weak before they are killed.
And it is veal and quail that is served at these functions.
We have a lot of work cut out for us – ‘us’ being those who actually, really, truly love animals. All animals.

Are vegans pro-life? For real?

I got to thinking, after having read a post on Facebook where someone was upset at an argument they had been having with someone else who happened to ask what their view on abortion was. Their argument ended up being a slanging match, where swallowing sperm etc became the red herring and the abortion issue ended up being the elephant in the room.

The responses that the upset vegan got was a whole lot more of sarcastic commentary that she was advised to give. Or just plain insults to deliver.

This went on for a while. In the meantime I started to wonder myself about this. And finally, I had to put my own thoughts up. I avoided the sperm/blow job aspect of it - it was getting a thorough *cough* beating without me adding to it. My comment was:

One of the most compelling and strong things that us vegans use as an argument for eating plants over meat, is the fact that plants don't have a brain or a nervous system. At 5 weeks, a foetus's brain and nervous system starts to develop. I think that this fact requires thought....

Now, either this has indeed caused thought or I have just killed the thread and everyone has scattered and re-hidden their heads in the sand.

To me, the issue DOES require thought. Surely, as vegan's, are we not pro life for all life?

It seems not. If it's inconvenient to us, then many of us compromise. Massively.

That's all.

The Friendly Activist - Seaspiracy: what you should know about fish, the ocean and more

I am very proud to have met a young man, Ali Tabrizi a couple of years ago. He was, at the time, presenting at the Birkbeck University who have a Friday evening sort of 'open mic' night where people can present things they feel passionate about.

Ali's talk that evening was an exploration and research into looking at alternative ways to consume food in order to minimise the destructivity that humans have ended up perpetuating upon this blue planet that we call home but treat like a rubbish tip.

He spoke of vegetarian, veganism and even opened up the subject of breatharianism. I was mesmerised by his compassion, not only towards the planet and the animals that live upon her, but also towards his fellow humans, even though we do what we do. He didn't come across as judgemental in any way, just hyper concerned for his and all beings future.

I spoke to him after his talk and I knew that here was a very real, caring, internally wonderful young man and I have since been watching his progress, his ever deepening journey into what appears to be the impossible - educating the human world to wake it up to what we are doing, what we are leaving to the next generations to have to deal with.

Please do watch his Seaspiracy: What you should know about fish, the ocean and more documentary here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLgkrQSRy9E

And follow his youtube channel here:

And let's back him up, if not for ourselves, but for our children and their children.
